Etere is another of the companies that have been pioneering computers and software for broadcast and video production for many years now. With the advent of a viable and economical IP standard for video production at broadcast quality, Etere has been able to implement software solutions that manage virtually the entire production process entirely in standard networks. Baseband connectivity can be used if present but is no longer required. NewTek’s royalty free NDI®, of course, is that standard and is leveraged across the range of Etere’s software production tools for channel automation, logging and compliance, ad insertion, playout, media asset management, graphics, multiviewing, camera and equipment control, production communications and more.
Just prior to NAB 2019, NDI® Central Podcast host Chris Burgos spoke with Fabio Gattari, CEO of Etere. Burgos asked particularly about their latest product: IP Playout with ETX-M IP Multiviewer, a scaleable, easy to manage and cost-effective IP playout solution that eliminates the need for SDI hardware, this single piece of software manages ingest, playback, graphics, archive and newsroom with no third-party integrations. Gattari had this to say:
We are not just providing a multiviewer, we are providing automation, a complete control room, all NDI enabled. Broadcasters like it because it is very easy, it is moving to IP without the cost of [SMPTE] 2110, and it is something they can start tomorrow. So, we have a very, very big success. We have a lot of broadcasters that like it.
