The New "TD": Running the Show for the First Time

Tanya Kisakova, a student at Emily Griffith Technical College in Denver, Colorado, shares the excitement and tension of her first experience running a show as technical director on TriCaster, in this YouTube video. After only a month in training, she’s calling the shots, and does so successfully. To show all sides of that experience, she mixes audio and video of the action in the control room, the set and camera operations on the studio floor, and the finished show as seen by viewers.

The intense concentration of the production crew is indeed a real taste of live production in the professional world.  So is the preparation that went into the show - a technical script was prepared for the show, all necessary graphics created and all pre-recorded content assembled in advance, and all ready to use on cue. What happens when the show is over is true to live production as well - first the groans over what went wrong, and then the relief and sense of accomplishment for all that went right.

And yes, that is a Russian accent you hear from both Tanya and from Julia, the high school student being interviewed in the show.  Only in America!  ;)
